- Con una inversión cercana a los $800 millones de pesos, Lundin Mining, en alianza con SLEP Atacama y Desafío Levantemos Chile, dio inicio formal al proyecto que permitirá que jóvenes continúen sus estudios durante el proceso de reparación del establecimiento definitivo.
Mediante una ceremonia que celebró la primera piedra del establecimiento, Lundin Mining Caserones, el Servicio Local de Educación Pública (SLEP) Atacama y Desafío Levantemos Chile iniciaron la construcción de la Escuela Modular Transitoria Los Loros, en la comuna de Tierra Amarilla.
El hito se desarrolló en el terreno donde se establecerá la nueva infraestructura educacional, la cual beneficiará a cerca de 150 estudiantes y sus familias, quienes podrán continuar estudiando en su localidad mientras el edificio del histórico Liceo Concentración Fronteriza D-43 de Los Loros enfrenta un proceso de reparación proyectado por aproximadamente dos años.
La iniciativa, surge como respuesta a las dificultades de infraestructura que enfrentó el establecimiento en 2024, situación que obligó a implementar medidas transitorias como el traslado diario de los estudiantes a Tierra Amarilla en un viaje de casi dos horas diarias. Esta solución busca fortalecer la continuidad educativa, mejorar la asistencia escolar y resguardar el bienestar de niñas, niños de la comunidad. Es por ese sentido de urgencia, que los actores involucrados en el proyecto están enfocando los esfuerzos para entregar la escuela durante julio de este año.
El gerente general de Lundin Mining Caserones, Marcelo Maccioni, destacó el trabajo colaborativo. “Hoy celebramos los frutos de un trabajo conjunto entre el mundo privado, la comunidad y el Estado. Desde Lundin Mining nos sentimos agradecidos y orgullosos de los actores que hicieron posible este momento, que representa una respuesta concreta a una necesidad urgente de las familias de Los Loros”, explicó.
El proyecto contempla una inversión cercana a los $800 millones de pesos financiada por Lundin Mining, un terreno en comodato entregado por su operación Caserones, la administración del SLEP Atacama y la ejecución a cargo de Desafío Levantemos Chile.
Víctor Sánchez, director ejecutivo (s) del SLEP Atacama, señaló que hoy “se marca el inicio de una etapa clave para garantizar la continuidad educativa en Los Loros. Reconocemos y agradecemos el apoyo de la comunidad y de los aliados en este proyecto, que permitirá disponer de condiciones seguras para el aprendizaje. Estas acciones demuestran que cuando las iniciativas son abordadas desde la cooperación público-privada, hacen sinergia y posibilitan la articulación de proyectos en beneficio de las comunidades educativas y sociedad en su conjunto”.
En este contexto, se trata de una infraestructura modular de más de 600 metros cuadrados, diseñada para ofrecer condiciones adecuadas de habitabilidad, eficiencia energética y confort térmico. El establecimiento incorporará ventanas termopanel, ventilación natural cruzada e iluminación natural, además de climatización en espacios comunes. Asimismo, considera la implementación de sistemas termoeléctricos para optimizar el desempeño energético del recinto.
La distribución tendrá dos naves principales; una destinada a aulas y administración, y otra para prebásica y servicios como comedor y cocina, conectadas mediante una plataforma elevada con rampas. El diseño incorpora un patio de juegos, que permanecerá en la comunidad cuando los niños se reincorporen al establecimiento definitivo. Además contará con accesibilidad universal, entradas independientes por ciclos educativos y espacios dimensionados para recibir a estudiantes desde prebásica hasta octavo.
El presidente de Desafío Levantemos Chile, Nicolás Birrell, destacó que “los establecimientos educacionales son una pieza esencial para cualquier comunidad; no solo cumplen un rol formativo, sino que también son espacios de encuentro, contención y esparcimiento. Es fundamental que esta escuela vuelva a contar con condiciones óptimas de funcionamiento, pero también que su comunidad pueda mantenerse unida y esta instalación apunta a eso”.
La directora corporativa de Desempeño Social de Lundin Mining, Alannah Williams, indicó que la solución es parte de un plan a futuro. “Estamos convencidos de que la educación es clave para el desarrollo social y económico de la comunidad. Esta iniciativa forma parte de un programa educativo a largo plazo que estamos desarrollando en Atacama, con actores públicos y privados, para mejorar las oportunidades de aprendizaje de personas de distintas edades y ocupaciones”, expresó.
Cabe destacar que el proyecto se suma a una relación de largo plazo entre Caserones y la Escuela de Los Loros, que ha incluido durante los últimos años diversas iniciativas de apoyo educativo, tales como talleres de capacitación y charlas para la vida laboral y estudios superiores, espacios de desarrollo de habilidades comunicacionales, charlas impartidas por profesionales de Caserones, la construcción y habilitación de los talleres de la especialidad de mecánica industrial y la entrega de computadores para fortalecer la formación académica de los estudiantes, entre otras.
